 : Failed SampleFollowing Met Office severe weather warnings on the 6th July, heavy showers were experienced in the upper catchments of the Dee and the Don. The effect of the rainfall washing soil into the rivers was apparent from the brown colouration of the Don on the 7th and 8th July. Don flows were more than twice the long term July average in the 24 hours preceding the mandatory failure of the bathing water standards at Aberdeen Beach. High levels of faecal coliforms measured in the Don suggested that this was a significant source of contamination on the day of the failing sample. | ||||
